The gun comes with either two 15-round (or with the extended magwell variant, 18-round) black fluoropolymer finished magazines! They are unique to the EDC X9 and designed just for it, hence they have optimal feeds. They also have numbered counting holes.
Wilson Combat says this arm is accurate to within 1.5” at 25 yards, an impressive deviation of only 1 to 600.
The slide has a flat top and 45-degree bevels that join to vertical flanks. The wide swatch bevels make a powerful design statement, but they also cut slide mass for reduced muzzle flip. Wilson Combat calls this a Tri Top design. The slide has a 30 lines per inch serrations that run the length of the slide top except where interrupted by the ejection port. The back of the slide is also serrated.
The sights include a simple fiber optic front sight. Bringing up the back behind a sight radius of 5.6” is a Wilson Combat Tactical Adjustable Battlesight. This U-notch blackout dovetailed sight is fabricated from block steel and Parkerized for wear resistance and durability. It slots perfectly into the slide, and then two Torx screws lock it in place. As would be expected of Wilson, the sight is fully click adjustable for elevation and windage.
The slide features attractive diamond hatched front and rear slide serrations. Each group combines to make a nice abstract large X pattern Wilson calls X-Tac. Their stacked stainless steel looks contrast beautifully with the matte Armor Tuff finished slide.
Further Description
This gun has a 4” stainless steel match grade bull barrel. Both chamber and barrel are fluted, shaving precious tenths of ounces from the gun’s weight. The barrel has just one lug instead of two or three, which reduces friction when firing.
By design, this gun lacks a grip safety. That permits the hand to go higher up closer to the bore axis, improving control for faster follow up shots.
The EDC X9 has an upturned beavertail and above it an ultra-light serrated concave skeletonized hammer. Other main controls are on the left. They include the ambidextrous serrated thumb safety at back, slide release and magazine release.
The lines are classic. The trigger guard enjoys snag-free curved lines on the outside and encloses a rounded rectangle on the inside. Within it, the solid curved trigger has vertical serrations for improved feel and a 3.5 to 4.5 pound trigger pull.
The gun includes several parts from Wilson Combat’s own Bullet Proof lineup. They include the thumb safety, hammer and magazine release. What’s so good about them? Simple. These Bullet Proof parts end up being virtually wobble free, are very high quality, fit beautifully, etc.
The tall G10 polymer sunburst pattern side grips are quite striking. The grips have a little magic to them. They aren’t fastened via the usual pair of upper and lower flathead screws. Instead, they slide onto the grip from in back. At their center are the Wilson Combat eagle atop the letter C pewter medallions. The frontstrap and mainspring housing at back share an integrated horizontal diamond pattern that’s part of the X-Tac style.
